Talk:2022 Phoenix shooting
This page has been recently proposed for deletion (8 October 2024) by Fram (talk · contribs) with the comment: WP:NOTNEWS, no substantial sustained coverage (just one slightly later source, when the footage was released). It was contested by Sir MemeGod (talk · contribs) on 9 October 2024 with the comment: I'm going to remove this and add back a "sources exist" tag. I'm not good with making calls, but hear me out: Several (national and well-known) sources were still discussing the shooting by September 15, almost 15 days after the shooting. I will also have access to Newspapers.com within the next few days (once the website gets the apps), and I'm 100% sure that once I have access I can find sustained coverage, hence the addition of the tag. "One source" also isn't accurate. |

Wikipedia is not a news website
[edit]I have tagged this article as reading like a police briefing or being largely based on routine news coverage, as the cited news articles are concentrated around the date of the shooting and around the date that police released information about the shooting, a couple of weeks later. As Wikipedia is not a news website, an article should have continuing coverage over a sustained period of time and demonstrate some form of lasting effect or impact on society beyond the event itself. The article should address questions like what factors in the perpetrator's upbring or life lead to him committing this act and what actions have been prompted as a result of this act, such as public enquiries, changes in social policy or legislation, advocacy or activism on behalf of victims or relatives, research, etc. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:43, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- WP:SUSTAINED is up to editor discretion, and in my opinion 15 days of coverage from major sources (CNN, CBS) warrants an article. The event 100% meets GNG though. SirMemeGod 12:03, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
