Fatally shot them dead

[edit]

The current intro sentence is a bit of a mess -- On 20 June 2023, two Hamas members fatally shot four Israeli civilians dead near Eli, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank and wounded four other Israeli civilians. How about On 20 June 2023, two Hamas members shot at Israeli civilians near Eli, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, killing four and wounding four others. ? -- Nat Gertler (talk) 04:25, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. 'Fatally shot dead' is a splendid pleonasm and should go into the textbooks as such.Nishidani (talk) 06:45, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that'd be better. Fatally was wrong added to the first sentence. Israeli civilians is unnecessarily repeated.
The Aftermath section needs to be expanded. Jim 2 Michael (talk) 12:22, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am avoiding doing article edits at this time, so if someone else could handle this, it'd be appreciated. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've done what I can to expand that section. Dunutubble (talk) (Contributions) 15:14, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

The link to Eli Cohen when mentioning the Israeli reaction to the shooting is to the wrong subject, and ought to properly link to Eli Cohen (politician born 1972). As this article is currently protected, per [1], I am unable to add this contribution myself, and request for someone with the requisite requirements met be able to fix this minor discrepancy.

POV problem

[edit]

At the moment, this article in title and formulation is posited as being about the initial shooting event, in which two terrorists shot eight people. The response, a larger event where hundreds shot more people, burned houses, and so forth, is treated as mere "aftermath", not even mentioned in the introduction. This seems a real problem of balance. Either we should have a separate article on that "aftermath", or this article should be repositioned as being about the whole affair through name (I'm recommending "2023 Eli conflict") and content. And if we're going to have a template on terrorist attacks against Israelis, there should be a parallel one on attacks on Palestinians. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 13:58, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
