Age regression is not only used in hypnotherapy. Its also used in other therapies without hypnosis and in attachment therapy.Fainites barley 15:00, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think consideration ought to be given to merging these two stubs/articles. They are both based on the same 'principles' although one is a description of a defence mechanism and the other is a pro-active use of the same idea. If the pro-active use of regression for therapeutic purposes is pseudoscientific (which would seem to be the case) then it still makes more sense to deal with them both on the same page so that people can see where such ideas arise from - ie the misapplication of psychological theories. I think these two should be kept seperate. As defined Regression is a 'pattern of behavior' and Age Regression is a method of therapy used by the hypnotherapist. These are two different things.AlexGWU (talk) 22:04, 13 August 2008 (UTC) So these two are not necessarily relevant. In other words if someone goes through an 'age regression' therapy or hypnosis, that person does not necessarily possess a regression pattern of behavior.AlexGWU (talk) 22:09, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Alex! In my opinion regression as defense mechanism and regression as therapeutic modality are two entirely different topics, and ought to remain separate. What is more, I find the stub on age regression therapy so negatively biased as to be utterly misleading. I am seriously contemplating an edit.

Age Regression is not only used in hypnotherapy and this page should be expanded to show that. It would be incorrect to assume that it is and the page fails to make that clear to users, I suggest changing it slightly to show this and to keep in mind that it is also a very useful coping method. (Coming from an age regressor who has never used hypnotherapy in his life.) LeotheleopardNZ (talk) 10:01, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

perhaps age regression therapy in psychology (not hypnosis) may need a completely different page Paper2222 (talk) 02:53, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm disappointed in how this page presents age regression and am currently working on an edit. This page is a disgrace and an embarrassment. Jupiter'sDolly (talk) 18:49, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Eight times a dead link dead link is used as a source. Apart from the link being dead, it doesn't seem a reliable source to me. Could anybody with better sources check if the text is correct and put in a better source? Lova Falk talk 09:42, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

REBIRTHING IS ABOUT ADOPTERS, NOT ABOUT THE CHILD

[edit]

Rebirthing is a false relgious practice invented by the adoption industry because spoiled clients were having trouble adjusting to the fact that they did not give birth to the child and that the child may not adapt to them. When a child is lonely at camp, they are sent home. When a child is lonely in adoption, the agencies try to invent reasons for why the child is not adapting that excuse adoption as a practice and the adopter of all blame. The idea is that by pretending the child was born to the strangers that they can pretend that the child never had a biological family and rather than behave in mature, rational and sane ways to bond with a child, they pretend that a blanket will start a new life for the child where the child will magically bond with them as if they gave birth. This has no basis in psychology or in religion and is a reworking of why Christians baptise each other. This can be verified in adoption literature. The practice got a bad name in the news, where they conveniently forgot to tell the public that these were not parents, but adopters who wanted to pretend that they were parents---aka can't even admit to the public that a biological parent would have no reason to stuff a child into a blanket to the point of killing them. This practice does not exist outside adoption, the child is not regressing into a past life or an earlier childhood memory. In fact the whole point is to pretend the child had no existence outside the adoption. The process is not about the child's mental health at all, but about what the adopters want and their unmet needs and desire to be loved by a child who would prefer his own parents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14B:4401:D5C0:9028:75B3:CB5C:3F24 (talk) 02:18, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

this article's see also page is a mess

[edit]

what is the significance of satanic ritual abuse, rape, and alien abduction being in the see also section? they are clearly not there to present information about relevant topics. this is clearly some sort of sick joke. 100.8.157.135 (talk) 18:25, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Other therapists use the same invalid methods as age-regression therapists do to come to those conclusions. Also, reincarnation therapists. --Hob Gadling (talk) 09:24, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
