Name

[edit]

Can someone find at least the Hebrew alphabet version of his name? Thanks! -Fsotrain09 20:47, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is he still alive? NL-Ninane 21:40, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, he isn't, but all I've been able to find out is that the circumstances of his burial were notable. -Fsotrain09 22:02, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic Name

[edit]

The name listed here was Abd El-Amin Hajer, but the MOD website lists his name as Abdel-Majid Hedr. I have changed the Arabic name to be in line with the MOD website. Does anyone have any definitive information on this? I think Abd El-Amin Hajer was another soldier. Cheers AWN AWN2 07:54, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell his name would have been spelt Arabic: عبد الماجد حيدر. Please correct if anyone has better information. AWN AWN2 09:57, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I used the "version" that was listed in the ariticle containing the redlink that I started this from. AFAIK, that main article still contains the inaccuracy. -Fsotrain09 15:06, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Awards

[edit]

Amos Yarkoni was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, which is not Israel's highest military award (this is the Medal_of_Valor). Unless anyone has other information, I might update this reference to "one of Israel's highest honors". Cheers, AWN AWN2 09:16, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"A nearby area"

[edit]

The source I used for Amos' younger years mentioned that he fled to a "Jewish area" of Palestine, where he made contacts in the Haganah and Moshe Dayan. Moshe Dayan was raised in Nahalal, which is not far from his home village of Na'oura. I suspect that the place Yarkoni fled to was, in fact, Nahalal. Does anyone have any more information on this? Cheers, AWN AWN2 05:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"A band"

[edit]

"He join a band which sabotaged...". I guess that this is a reference to a group of Yarkoni's peers, e.i., young Arabs. But the meaning should be clear from the wording, so that readers do not have to guess. Is there more precise information about this "band"? --Fsotrain09 17:26, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arab Israeli

[edit]

I have classified Amos Yarkoni z"l as an "Arab Israeli", on the basis that Bedouin are a subdivision of Arab Israelis -- see Arab_citizens_of_Israel. The Arab Israeli category includes Druze, Bedouins and Christians, and as Amos was a Bedouin, he should be categorized under both "Arab Israeli" and "Bedouin Israeli".

The article is longer than a stub, and discusses all major aspects of Yarkoni's life and notability. However, it can certainly continue to be improved, especially by editors with specialized knowledge of the related subject matter. --Fsotrain09 00:57, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
