Notability

[edit]

As a major Canadian film festival, I'm curious how there is a lack of notability for this article. Given it has been marked as such for more than a year, I propose a simple cleanup and removal of the flag. Calvinhrn (talk) 14:02, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FIN?

[edit]

Shouldn't the article explain what the letters FIN stand for? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.227.165.62 (talk) 15:19, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If we'd ever been able to find any properly sourced indication of what they stood for in the first place, it might have. But no such sourcing was ever found, and now (see below) it's kind of a moot point again anyway. Bearcat (talk) 17:03, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is currently no trace of "FIN" in the article. It only appears in the title and in the title of one cited source that is a dead link. It would be nice if the article at least mentioned that for some period of time, "FIN" was part of the name of the festival. Perhaps it's just an all-caps use of the word fin, which means "the end" in French and is often displayed at the end of a film. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:07, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FIN Atlantic Film FestivalAtlantic International Film Festival – Film festival has rebranded and dropped the "FIN"; now known as Atlantic International Film Festival or by the abbreviation "AIFF". 64.42.148.223 (talk) 19:20, 31 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. BilledMammal (talk) 14:56, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support. Although ironically I'm the one who moved the page to its current title in the first place when it added the "FIN", it's unequivocally clear that the festival has now dropped it again. Bearcat (talk) 17:02, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting comment: Relist to allow discussion of what the WP:COMMONNAME is BilledMammal (talk) 14:56, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Common name is "The Atlantic International Film Festival"; FIN had been added in 2017 to serve as an umbrella name for the programs collected within the festival (Kids, Outdoor, etc.) Went largely unused by the public which led to the festival's recent rebranding to the "legacy" name of Atlantic International Film Festival. 64.42.148.223 (talk) 19:03, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
