Reqmap

[edit]

{{reqmap}} I've added the old map that used to be on the regional article. Wasn't sure about placement in the article or the caption. Feel free to change either. Cheers. Liveste (talkedits) 07:33, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting Into Two Articles

[edit]

This article contains both one on the actual bay, and then the region surrounding it. It would be better to separate the two, so that there is more space to use to describe each aspect of Bay of Plenty. C1MM (talk) 15:08, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bay of Plenty and Bay of Plenty region are the same thing. No split required. 2407:7000:8D8B:F300:B874:C9F7:611D:9F3F (talk) 03:29, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Split completed. -- P 1 9 9   16:06, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Given the distinction between the region and the geographical feature, I think we need to split the two into this page and Bay of Plenty Region. This would be in keeping with the approach taken with Hawke Bay and Hawke's Bay and helps to clarify the distinction between the two. Turnagra (talk) 02:56, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Daveosaurus and Nurg, as you two were involved in the decision to merge the two back in the day so might want to weigh in. Turnagra (talk) 02:58, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We don't have a Hawke Bay/Hawke's Bay situation in the Bay of Plenty.
This briefly explains what area the Bay of Plenty covers: https://www.live-work.immigration.govt.nz/choose-new-zealand/regions-cities/bay-of-plenty 2407:7000:8D8B:F300:B874:C9F7:611D:9F3F (talk) 03:40, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't a difference in spelling, but there is still a difference between the actual bay and the region around it Turnagra (talk) 22:42, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bay of Plenty and Bay of Plenty Region used to be separate articles until merged in 2017, following little discussion that gave no proper reasons (and was actually buried in this move discussion). I will reinstate the 2 articles in the next few days, and work to clean them up, i.e. clear up the distinction between the body of water and the jurisdiction. -- P 1 9 9   18:21, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
