Nothing about the American Civil War?

[edit]

This article is very poorly written and is lacking citations is many places where it makes bold claims. The fact that there is a one paragraph summary of “American Revolution - Jim Crow” completely skips one of the most important events in Black history - The American Civil War, where 600,000+ Americans died in a fight for Black freedom.

This article also glosses over some very important moments in the American revolutionary area too. The Continental Army is referred to as the “Congressional Army”, which I’ve never heard of before so I assume that’s either a “typo” or more likely, the writer actually doesn’t know what they’re writing about. I’d also like to see the citation for Thomas Jefferson promising slaves if they fought they’d be free, but then not freeing them. The citation doesn’t exist - Jefferson has a checkered past as it pertains to slaves, but he was not known to recruit for the Continental Army so that statement is simply false. There is plenty to say about Thomas Jefferson to make a point, no need to rewrite history. Gaetano.sacco (talk) 12:52, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
