Tone of article

[edit]

The general tone of the article appears to be aggressive and negative, which is why i flagged it POV — Preceding unsigned comment added by MortenDahl (talkcontribs) 21:51, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The information on the page however is completely correct. The age of his name opponents is all right there on their Boxrec record pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.217.115.34 (talk) 10:51, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That is not really relevant to the fact that this article is indeed not NPOV. This article could state the same things without any of the negative verbs being used here. --Kotu Kubin (talk) 19:42, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot of factual errors and POV. Did Nielsens pro career look obscure at first? POV! Holmes was NOT 48, but 47. Handpicked opponent (matchmaiking) is made for every notable fighter. Fx. Oscar de la Hoya and Mike Tyson. Nielsen is never billed an "all-time great" in Denmark. Nielsen wasn't knocked out by Dick Ryan. He dehydrated and the referee stopped the fight. Nielsen/Palle was actually trying to get a fight against Lennox Lewis in 1997. The fight was very close to become a reality, but Lewis fought a boring fight against Akinwande and Nielsen disappointed at the undercard of that fight, so there was no basis for the fight on american tv. Nielsen has been ranked by the WBC, so he has been a "world ranked" fighter. There is so much wrong with this description of Nielsen, and it is so negatively biased, that I will clean it up in a week, if noone protests. Fightdane (talk) 20:33, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would lend support for the POV clean up. It reads as if a specific anti-nielsen fan had written large parts of the article. Do we really need to note wheree the sanctioning body's of his titles have "ever been recognized as a legitimate world title"? 207.216.253.134 (talk) 00:40, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have started to clean it up. Assistance would be appreciated. This article is full of POV, original research, and is largely one giant WP:BLP violation. Joefromrandb (talk) 11:00, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Joefromrandb. I will edit more at a later time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.184.85.11 (talk) 03:21, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While this article still needs much work, I think enough of the garbage has been cut out to justify the removal of the POV tag. Does anyone disagree? Joefromrandb (talk) 22:45, 1 August 2011 (UT

I agree. How should work continue on it?

This article slipped my mind for a while. I removed the tag, per discussion here. Please don't hesitate to return it, and/or ping me should disruptive edits resume. Joefromrandb (talk) 07:31, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abekat

[edit]

The article says At a press conference prior to the Mike Tyson fight, Nielsen called Tyson an "abekat" which was erroneously translated as "monkey". That is not true, there was no error. I was born and bred in Denmark and my family is 100% Danish and all speak Danish. I have no doubt in my mind when I tell you that abekat is another word for abe which means monkey. It does not mean brat anymore than it does in English. The source for brat doesn't exist and I suggest it be removed and not call the first translation an error either. The description on the ESPN is pretty good.

On the note of Tyson taking offense, there are even some people in Denmark who thinks it's funny to call niggers monkeys. Abekat doesn't mean nigger/neger though. 85.233.242.14 (talk) 11:43, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
