Main article link is a circular reference. Obviously, only one is a main article. This is a mess.

Also, the second part of the article is nearly incomprehensible and heavily biased (it relies nearly exclusively on sources in Chinese, published by state owned media). I suggest a proper rewrite! Non Chinese sources are badly needed as the offical media try to sell you the picture that the railway network was build entirely by Chinese companies utilizing Chinese technology, in order to maintain the notion of not having "sold out" the nation. This version is far from the truth though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.108.29.238 (talk) 04:47, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No CRH4?

[edit]

Why is there a CRH3 (in use) and a CRH5, but CRH4? Is it because 4 is considered an unlucky number? 76.21.8.213 (talk) 14:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is rumored the CRH4 will be assigned to be a genuine serie--Ksyrie(Talkie talkie) 14:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got a message from a railway-fans' BBS, but not proved. The message says that CRH4 was initially arranged for AGV-tech. But MOR didn't really import the AGV-tech. Then, there is no CRH4.

"4"is believed to be an unlucky number in China.Plus,"4" sounds like "death" in Chinese.I think that's the reason why CRH4 disappeared.

List of destinations, and map

[edit]

This article would give lots of context if it would give a map and a list of routes.Dogru144 (talk) 18:43, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in China Railway High-speed

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of China Railway High-speed's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "IRJ":

  • From Fuxing Hao: "China's Standard high-speed EMU enters service". International Railway Journal. August 15, 2016.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:26, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns with overbuilding?

[edit]

There was an interesting article in the press earlier this year: 赵一苇, 中国高铁建设“减油门”:重点是调整高铁与普铁的投产比例 (China's high-speed rail construction to slow down: the key is to adjust the ratio of high-speed rail to conventional rail development). 中国新闻周刊, 2021-04-20. Looking at it, it seems that the authorities are concerned with the economics of high-speed railway construction, and feel that a lot of regions have driven themselves into debt needlessly building high-speed rail lines that don't get sufficiently high use to justify either the capital expenses or the operational costs. Does anyone better familiar with the subject feel like expanding on this in this Wikipedia article? -- Vmenkov (talk) 16:54, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That topic is already touched upon here High-speed_rail_in_China#Public_concern, this article is just about the operating company which doesn't play as much part in the construction costs. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 17:16, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
