Grammy Award Nomination for Claudio

[edit]

At least as far as the official grammy award website is concerned, Roditis nomination for Brazilliance X 4 album was 2009, and not 2010 as stated. Of course the awards presentation was in January 2010, but I feel the reference should be to the work and the nomination which was on December 2, 2009, which as the Grammys website lists show is 2009. https://www.grammy.com/grammys/artists/claudio-roditi

Also, based on the page for 1995, Claudio was not nominated then. Of course, using the above logic, it would have been 1994 which isn't included on this page, which also states it was the first year the Latin Jazz award was made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Latin_Jazz_Album

The wikipedia pages for the 37th, and 36th Grammy Awards do not show nominations, just the winners. The LA Times has the nominations for the 37th, here https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1995-01-06-ca-17089-story.html and these do not include "Symphonic Bossa Nova". The nominees for the 36th, are here https://www.upi.com/Archives/1994/01/06/Nominees-for-36th-annual-Grammy-Awards/4923757832400/ and also don't include "Symphonic Bossa Nova".

The Funeral Home for his burial has a formal obituary it does include mention of the grammy nominations, they list 1994 and 2009. https://jacobhollefuneralhome.com/tribute/details/9846/Claudio-Roditi/obituary.html

The New York Times obituary says "Among the more unusual items in his discography is “Symphonic Bossa Nova” (1994), on which the conductor Ettore Stratta led the Royal Philharmonic in orchestral arrangements of compositions by Antonio Carlos Jobim and others." on which Roditi was a guest artist/performer as were many others. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/24/arts/music/claudio-roditi-dead.html

Finally the discogs page for the release in 1994 only shows Claudio as a soloist on Flugelhorn and Trumpet. https://www.discogs.com/Ettore-StrattaRoyal-Philharmonic-Symphonic-Bossa-Nova/release/4658852

Overall I have no idea what to do with the 1995 nomination. But I do feel that the 2010 nomination should be changed as follows, with a link to the Grammy Website, especially as none of the provided references work now or were incorrect. Also linking the Best Latin Jazz album page here.

"His album "Brazilliance X 4" was nominated in the category, Best Latin Jazz Album, 52nd Annual Grammy Awards(2009)."

does Claudio Roditi have a webpage somewhere? I searched on Google but couldn't find one. If anyone has information on this, put it under the "External Links" section. Ben Tibbetts 02:27, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ben as far as I know, the best is sadly the Gofundme page setup before he died. Since GoFundMe domain is blocked for links, make your own way there and search for claudio-roditi-needs-our-help --Cathcam (talk) 23:49, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
