Add product logos and product images

[edit]

Is it possible to get the logos on this page please for each distro? Eg Cloud Foundry, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Bluemix etc. I can't upload images yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cloudfoundry (talkcontribs) 21:46, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

I disagree with the merge proposal, which is already a year old. I'm inclined to remove it. VMware does own Cloud Foundry, but it is a separate unit and will likely be on its' own, as well as being a different topic.

+1 - in fact VMware divested Cloud Foundry to Pivotal [1], and the project is more independent, this proposal is not relevant

Updates needed

[edit]

(Disclaimer: I have a WP:COI so I am posting this on the Talk page rather than directly editing, so that someone else can independently verify the facts and edit appropriately)

  • Cloud Foundry is now sponsored by Pivotal, although it started at VMware.
  • It is no longer a hosted service offered by VMware at cloudfoundry.com. There is a Pivotal "hosted developer edition" at run.pivotal.io. There are others, run by other companies, too.
  • cloudfoundry.org no longer exists. The community site is cloudfoundry.com and the code is on Github.
  • the code is largely written in Ruby with some in Go. See https://www.ohloh.net/p/cloudfoundry for analysis
  • supported runtimes, frameworks and services are no longer listed accurately. CF now supports buildpacks like Heroku meaning "any" runtime can be supported - although Java/Spring, Ruby and node.js are built in.
  • links to references on docs.cloudfoundry.com all need updating.
  • external links need updating and might include www.thisweekincf.com as well
  • there is no discussion of architecture, what it is, how it works etc
  • there are no references to Cloud Foundry BOSH
  • There's no reason to link to OpenShift from "See Also" on this page as it is not the same thing. An alternative approach could be to add a list of competitors (which is where CF appears on the OpenShift page, with others).

  • This article takes no account of the involvement of IBM and other large organisations in the project

I concur. Reading this article left me with the question that I went in with: "Sounds cool, but what does it do?" -- 141.76.180.79 (talk) 08:58, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
