Perhaps this should be split into separate 'color' and 'coloration' articles, to reduce the confusion of mixing the terms and having 4 different definitions in one article unnecessarily. Ben Finn (talk) 13:34, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a "clean" solution, true. But it would come at the cost of having to put yet more weight on the disambiguation page, which would need to include sufficiently precise definitions for each of the four senses, for a reader to be able to choose the correct one. This list of disambiguation definitions would almost duplicate the content of the present article, and each of the four sub-articles would be a mere stub with very little content beyond what's in the definition. That's why I felt this was better treated as a "set index article" (which is a valid, though uncommon, article format under our guidelines). Fut.Perf. 16:57, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
