Citation style

[edit]

@Headhitter, Rjensen, RJFF, Materialscientist, and LoomCreek: (pinging top article editors still active)

It's probably to be expected with an article this old, but over the years, the article has accumulated a variety of citation styles. It's kind of a mess. The article began with a non-templated Harvard style, but it looks like that was the only option at the time.

I propose to make it consistent using CS2 (and Template:Rp when appropriate, such as the Crawford refs). I wanted to solicit feedback first though, in case any of its top editors object. Schazjmd (talk) 18:02, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any strong preferences as long as sources are accessible to the reader. Adding the rp template seems like a really good plan. LoomCreek (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Rjensen (talk) 21:07, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've modified all of the refs to use the same style. I removed items from Bibliography that were used as citations, and renamed the remaining entries in that list to Further reading. One of the old Harvard refs relied on a bibliography entry that had gotten removed somewhere in the intervening years, so that was fun. Hope this makes the article a bit easier to edit and simpler for readers to find the right sources. Schazjmd (talk) 14:17, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Current World Devlopmets

[edit]

In the USA, there is a highly controversial project called California Forever. A topic should be opened, but the proposed scale is city-sized. LittleBro96 (talk) 16:27, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LittleBro96, thanks for the suggestion but it is already an article: California Forever. It doesn't really fit the concept of a company town, which is "a place where all or most of the stores and housing in the town are owned by the same company that is also the main employer" (emphasis added). Bias

[edit]

Company towns have been widely documented to foster abusive practices. This article reads as a pro company town fluff piece. With new company towns on the horizon please prioritize updating this article to reflect the actual conditions and outcomes. People deserve to be well informed on topics that could so radically impact their lives. 2601:602:8980:CA5:8EDE:A6DD:1882:3E90 (talk) 18:13, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
