Title?

[edit]

I have access to one of the earliest publications of the song, where its title is listed as Dona Dona Dona. How does one decide what is the correct title of the song? -- kosboot (talk) 14:11, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The two versions of the English text given in the article use the "dona" form, so if for no reasons other than consistency, that also ought to be the primary form used for the name of the article. If nobody objects I will change the title accordingly and set it as the target of all redirects. --Futhark|Talk 07:28, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio ?

[edit]

Aren't the lyrics of that song still protected by copyright ? The author hasn't been dead for 70 years yet, only half that many. Blinking Spirit (talk) 17:24, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree that reproducing the lyrics is a copyright violation. -- kosboot (talk) 22:48, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Me too, so I removed all the lyrics. Happy waiting for next 30 years... ={ kocio (talk) 11:52, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

this was usally sung when people were dead! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.104.192 (talk) 22:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article was previously copied almost entirely from a single source, which in turn was based on a single online reference that is no longer functional. I've rewritten the article with extensive links to the current online repository for the original lyrics and set things up so that the extensive lyrics can be removed from the article without reducing its utility, if their being under copyright is a problem. --Futhark|Talk 17:50, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanto lyrics?

[edit]

Why are the lyrics translated into Esperanto on the English page? This section seems tacked on and is entirely irrelevant to the article. An Esperanto translation of this song ought to be in the Esperanto version of this article. Duotrope (talk) 13:52, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adonai

[edit]

I don't believe anyone thinks Dana Dana has anything to do with Adonai, and I give notice that I'll remove this unsourced statement unless anyone can prove it.

Much more useful would be an explanation of what Dana Dana does mean in Yiddish, if anything. Ttocserp 06:30, 5 August 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prkprescott (talkcontribs)

English covers

The Chad Mitchell Trio released their version in 1961 on the album Mighty Day on Campus. [1]

Why Kodesh?

[edit]

Why 'Kodesh' above the second set of English lyrics instead of 'Kevess'? Looks like a mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.243.14.228 (talk) 23:29, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I came to the talk page to make the same comment. The only sources I have found referencing a person named "Kodesh" are citing/quoting this Wikipedia article. Meiselface (talk) 18:41, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
