Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 03:45, 2 June 2024 (UTC).[reply]

Just wanted to provide a second ALT to pick from . TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: @OlifanofmrTennant: The episode is not "'inspired by' Black Mirror", the source states nothing about inspiration and neither does the article, so please stop adding it here and in the article. ภץאคгöร 10:04, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Approving ALT1 and ALT2, with preference towards ALT2. Article is long enough and was moved to mainspace a day before DYK nomination. Article is presentable, well-sourced, and copyvio-free. ALT1 and ALT2 are both interesting and sourced, though I found ALT2 more interesting. ALT0 not approved due to above reason. QPQ done. Thank you for the nomination TheDoctorWho and Olifanofmrtennant - Kimikel (talk) 01:43, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looking good. Just some copy things to fix and an answer I'm seeking. Ping me when done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 08:22, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

Copy changes

[edit]
  • The episode features themes of the effects of social media on society, racism and elitism, and has been compared by Davies WP:CINS no comma after "elitism" as the subject on both sides is "the episode"
  • "Dots," and "73 Yards.": MOS:LOGICAL: should be "Dots",
  • Davies ultimately pitched the episode to Moffat in April 2010 for the sixth series but it was scrapped Comma after "sixth series"
  • Davies compared the episode to Black Mirror but with more freedom; Several critics also noted the similarities in tone and premise. lowercase "several"
  • The ratings should mention they are UK-only and only account for linear viewing (since streaming programs are not rated in the same way)
  • It was the twenty-fourth most watched programme of the week, and was Remove comma CINS
  • Cooke's acting; as well as that of Gatwa I removed this improper semicolon

Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]

No Earwig concerns.

  • 3: The idea for the episode first came to Davies 15 years ago, he told DWM’s Benjamin Cook. During an LA lunch ahead of the series 11 launch, he pitched it to Steven Moffat, his successor in the showrunner role, but it was too expensive to achieve back in 2010. I take it the series 11 mention in this quote is in error compared to sixth series in text? Or am I wrong? checkY
  • 12: Aesthetically, "Dot and Bubble" does bear certain similarities to Kaluuya's 2011 episode "Fifteen Million Merits," which also features screens dominating people's lives. However, it is by far the most similar to the 2013 episode "Nosedive" starring Bryce Dallas Howard. That episode took place in a social media-dominated world where the soft pastels of the design of the interface hid the ugly underside of living life more or less entirely through a social feed. checkY
  • 21: Dot and Bubble also stars Tom Rhys Harries (White Lines) as Ricky September checkY
  • 27: Three-star review in Empire. checkY
  • 37: Ranking checks out. checkY

Images

[edit]

There are three images in the article:

  • Title card art with NFUR
  • Two libre-license Cardiff images

Encouragement: Add alt text to all. In {{multiple image}}, there are also alt parameters.

@Sammi Brie: I believe I've addressed everything. The quote in that source is most definitely a typo as Moffat wasn't even the showrunner for the eleventh series, Chris Chibnall was, nor did it air in 2010 (series 11 was broadcast in 2018). I do intend on adding alt text to the images tomorrow, I just can't do it in the moment as I'm editing on my mobile. TheDoctorWho (talk) 08:45, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sammi Brie: Alt text has now been added. TheDoctorWho (talk) 03:46, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
