NPOV

[edit]

This article had some NPOV problems, which I've tried to fix. The paragraph beginning "Royce has consistently earned honors and awards..." was a copyvio, cut and pasted from Royce's web site at http://www.royce.house.gov/Biography/bio.htm . I've rewritten it to make it more NPOV.--76.81.180.3 16:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the copyvio/POV cut and paste was done by WP user Marie-Therese. That's Royce's wife's name, and the Marie-Therese account has never been used to do any edits except to the Ed Royce article.--76.81.180.3 19:11, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sourcewatch.org

[edit]

User M stone recently went through three articles and removed citations to sourcewatch.org, calling them spam. I don't know what this is all about. Sourcewatch is simply a citizens' watchdog site that tracks political contributions. I've reverted the edit to this article.--76.81.180.3 22:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia's Verifiability policy. It clearly states that "Articles and posts on Wikipedia or other open wikis should never be used as third-party sources." When such references are added by anonymous editors it appears that they are being added simply to promote Congresspedia and thus are spam. M stone 02:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your behavior is offensive. Please try reading the WP article "Spam." You are throwing the term around in a completely inappropriate way. No reasonable, impartial observer would believe that the use of Congresspedia as a source was an attempt to spam for Congresspedia. People like you are what's wrong with Wikipedia.--75.83.69.196 (talk) 04:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

more NPOV issues

[edit]

The article has had more problems with POV recently. In an edit on 9 October 2008, user 71.193.9.165 inserted a large amount of poorly organized material that read like a stump speech, full of POV language like "crusader." As with the last time this came up, a lot of the material seemed to be a slightly rewritten version of the material on Royce's web page at http://royce.house.gov/Biography/bio.htm . A lot of the material included a disproportionate amount of detail, as well as argumentative material. I've reorganized the article, separating domestic and foreign policy; cut excessive detail and cheerleading; and reduced POV language.--76.167.77.165 (talk) 15:52, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major formatting problems

[edit]

This article is tagged as having an inconsistent footnote style. Unfortunately, the problems extend beyond the footnoting. It appears that some poor cut/paste edits have copied what were formatted section headers and footnote numbers and inserted them into the article as text. The 'ref' tags, along with all wikilinks, have been lost. I think the best solution is to revert the article to the 18 January version, sacrificing two months worth of edits. 173.100.91.131 (talk) 00:35, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like most of the intervening edits were attempting to repair the damage. 108.110.192.207 (talk) 00:34, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
