@Joeyconnick, Nfitz, and Johnny Au: On page 15, the TTC/city May 2023 presentation document says "The proposed EELRT project (future Line 7) is an 18 km-long light rail transit line through Scarborough that will travel along Eglinton Avenue East, Kingston Road, Morningside Avenue, and Sheppard Avenue East, through the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and to Malvern Town Centre via Neilson Road." Is that sufficient to mention line 7 in the intro? That said, I have no plans to rename the article. May I at least mention Line 7 in the History section? I think mentioning it was referred to as "Line 7" in the history section sounds good. It feels like it being an official designation is not really there yet (note the presentation doesn't refer to it as Line 7 on the title page and it's not referred to Line 7 on the accompanying map of the route). If they or the press start regularly referring to it as "Line 7 Eglinton East" or the TTC issue a webpage with a proper 7 roundel, that seems like it would be the right time to put it in the lead and consider moving the article. Ideally shovels would be in the ground at that point too... because we all know how various "planned" lines can vaporize in Toronto. —Joeyconnick (talk) 19:13, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what's more official than the official website (where the official website) it's used in the lead - [1], or the various maps and reports, some using the Line 7 roundel. TTC has been using this on future maps for a while now. Line 7 continues to appear in TTC publications, such as in July 2022 when the line was referred to as line 7 in this report, and a new map using the Line 7 roundel was show in this presentation; also in the May 2023 presentation for the public consultation. I agree that it's too early to rename the article, but to simply note that they use Line 7 in July 2022, when it's in the lead of the official website is wrong. Sounds a little long-winded and protesteth too much. Website simply refers to it as Future Line 7. I don't think we need to get into anything about who refers to what, when. I put the logo back in the box, that TTC used on the map last year. Nfitz (talk) 06:05, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was just trying to make things consistent with the official website and the current public consultation for the TPAP; I'd think that demand for this page will increase with the public consultation starting. They are literally calling it future Line 7. I haven't seen it called 'Line 7 Eglinton East' to be honest. And I suspect that by the time they are open, it's name will change yet again. Line 7 Scarborough makes more sense - but there's obvious reasons for the City/TTC to not use 'Line 7 Eglinton East' (or 'Line 3 Ontario') until Line 3 is closed for some time, to avoid confusion. I think this is a caching issue. I put the coordinates in backwards at commons:Data:Eglinton East LRT.map and didn't fix it until revision 3. Looks like you're seeing revision 2 which draws a funky line somewhere in Antarctica. BLAIXX 03:22, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A quibble, but I'd assume that the Sheppard East terminus well be on the west-side of McCowan. I can't see them bothering with a crossing, when they could just as easily put the terminal - presumably on the northeast corner in a manner similar to what they are planning at Kennedy station. I think the schematic is good on its own because it shows the shape of the line and the connections. That particular image however is outdated and may have come from a city report ([2]) which might make it unsuitable for Commons. BLAIXX 02:09, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Changes by 142.181.92.235

142.181.92.235 made a series of interwoven changes. Some information added is inaccuarate such as:

  • "Unlike Line 5 Eglinton and other contemporary expansion projects of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the Eglinton East LRT is a project proposed by the City of Toronto and not Metrolinx, the provincial transit funding agency." I believe, the TYSSE was a TTC "contemporary expansion".
  • "The line is also planned to operate using shorter trains compared to the Flexity Freedom and Alstom Citadis trains used on Line 5 and Line 6 Finch West respectively." The Line 6 trains will be, at least initially, 48.5 metres long, about the same length as those proposed for the EELRT.

@Joeyconnick and Johnny Au: Besides the inaccuracies, I am also not keen on the wording changes made by 142.181.92.235. Should we undo the changes or should we only remove the inaccuracies? TheTrolleyPole (talk) 01:33, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
