First mention

[edit]

Nice article! Small note, but I read today that it was also mentioned in the coalition agreement in 2012, see here. Dajasj (talk) 21:56, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Dajasj: Thank you! It was only after completing the article that I realized you had been expanding the Dutch article the same day :) Thanks for pointing out this mistake, I have corrected it now. The Trouw article's wording seems to have been a bit misleading. Tristan Surtel (talk) 18:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was bit surprised as well, when I saw you connecting this article to my Dutch version ;) But I guess we read the same articles and were inspired. Dajasj (talk) 18:13, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of the Dutch term "omgeving-" and explanation of the English translation

[edit]

An English explanation of this act desperately needs a terminology note explaining the origin and use of the Dutch word "omgeving-" in this context.

It would helpful to discuss the translation of "omgeving-" as well. For starters, why does this Dutch term not have a direct English equivalent? If there is no direct English equivalent, how does the concept of "omgeving-" differ from equivalent concepts in other countries?

The awkward and questionable translation "environment and planning" for "omgeving-" requires explanation and discussion.

"Omgeving-" is used in many different contexts in the act and elsewhere. Is the expression "environment and planning" to be used in all those situations? For example, is it to be "environment and planning permit", "environment and planning plan", and so on?
