This article has been tagged with the {{Cleanup-spam}} tag as a result as part of the WP:WPSPAM project this article has come to my attention. My plan is to drastically cut the number of links. I plan on removing links to individual leagues (Wikipedia is not a links repository). I also plan on removing links to sites giving tips and advice on playing fantasy football. I feel the links that are important are those that give more detail about what Fantasy Football is (and any history). -- Rehnn83 Talk 08:28, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All forums and blogs have been removed immediately, as according to WP:EL. I would also delete the links to individual game websites. Ideally, I would have no external links here at all - any external websites about the history game can be used as references instead. Qwghlm 15:36, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're idiots... The job of this page is to inform. The links might need pruning but taking them all off is stupid.

Insightful comments are always welcome. Thanks for your contribution.Montco (talk) 11:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's amazing how this stuff accumulates over 4 years' passage. Removed the entirety of the EL section again as it appears none of the links in particular offers any special insight -- they're mostly forums, specific fantasy leagues, etc. —Darkwind (talk) 23:23, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising?

[edit]

Why is the TimesOnline game featured so prominently? I can understand the Telegraph being mentioned, but no other league is even referred to, yet PlayTheGame has its own section. It has some interesting features but so do other systems. I can't see any reason to keep the section, but I might be missing something. Can anyone justify it? Origins

[edit]

It might be worth mentioning the idea for "fantasy soccer" spawned from Fantasy football (American) which was originated in 1962. UrbanNerd (talk) 16:52, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Fantasy football (American) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 16:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested move to clarify subject

[edit]

The title sounds like a fantasy football trade group, like Fantasy Sports Trade Association. I know this will upset the association fans, but why not move this article to Fantasy football (soccer) and be done with the confusion?Timtempleton (talk) 04:59, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some POV and/or vandal IP keeps adding nonsense

[edit]

@82.47.83.112: keeps adding the following:

One of the most successful managers ever known is Scott Jones, who once won a trophy for his efforts thus entitling him to represent all future team names with a star or other appropriate symbol e.g. asterisk.

It seems pretty obviously of no use to an encyclopedia article, even if it could be sourced somewhere, which it is not. I assume that this editor is trying to advertise that they once won a mini-league.

I will continue to revert unless sourcing is provided that might at all be plausibly reliable and give some indication that this "fact" is of encyclopedic interest. --Hobbes Goodyear (talk) 23:29, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
