UK Release

[edit]

Is this game going to be release in the UK at all? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.107.19.88 (talk) 17:15, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be a sequel?

[edit]

Since this game takes place 2 years later, shouldn't it be considered a sequel like Final Fantasy X-2 instead of a spin-off? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.167.99.122 (talkcontribs) 03:50, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, not according to an article on Gamespot. Check out the quote from one of the designers near the bottom of the article. [1]--Az 02:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The developers didn't regard it as a sequel (source was provided), as it acts more like a spin-off, where the main protagonist is Vaan and the story revolves around him, as opposed to Final Fantasy XII centering around Ashe but told in the perspective of Vaan. However, I can see most people are adamant to go with it being a sequel following their interpretation of what sequel is, where I believe it is more of a spin-off following what is understood of a spin-off. Sequels not always followed with a 2 is somewhat unpopular, as seen in the media where sequel titles are almost always followed with a 2; except for Harry Potter, one example of a 2-less sequel, but then again HP is presently a series. So, if anyone wants to go with a sequel, be my guest, it is somehow incorrect and is not what the developers are saying to everyone, but Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, and society is almost always led astray by a majority. — Bluerです。 なにか? 06:25, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is arguing on semantics. The developers said they don't want people to think of this game as a sequel, but since they didn't say what they want people to think of it, what term should we use? Kariteh 12:45, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Information

[edit]

There's a bit of information here. If you want to add it, please do so, but USE REFERENCES TO THAT LINK. --TheEmulatorGuy 04:25, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For PSP

[edit]

All information I have read on this title is that it is being made for PSP, not DS... 24.131.157.78 09:15, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Every magazine scan with information regarding FFXII:RW clearly states that this is for the Nintendo DS. --Assassingod 20:14, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo Power itself said it's going to be for the Nintendo DS. --TheGreenLink 18:04, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heck, the official site itself said it is for the Nintendo DS. End of story. — Bluerです。 なにか? 18:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Character style

[edit]

Can someone explain why they draw characters younger and "smaller" when it ports things to smaller consoles like DS or PSP? We know Balthier and Fran don't look like they are 16 years old but what is the reasoning, can't the FMV just be the regular models? 75.72.168.220 11:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because Japanese love cuteness, and this game is Japanese. SamSandy 13:13, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Real-time strategy

[edit]

Judging from the videos does anyone else think this should be under RTS? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andres the Tiger (talkcontribs) 04:07, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Released?? o_o

[edit]

This game was already released?? I thought it was on April 26 (that's what the infobox says too)? Kariteh 16:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those were first-hand reviews from Japan. An exclusive sneak peak review of sorts. Bluerです。 なにか? 16:28, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When is this game coming to America?--TheGreenLink 18:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

there's no release date announced yet. stay tuned. Bluerです。 なにか? 03:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SPOILED

[edit]

Thanks for spoiling FFXII for me. I wasn't expecting to read about Vaan becoming a sky pirate in the beginning paragraph. --Michaelzheng 21:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yeah, that's what we do here.Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 01:18, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't get smart with me. I can copy and paste links too... Wikipedia:Spoiler_warning --Michaelzheng 02:14, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although Wikipedia strives first to inform and so may include spoilers, not all visitors will recognize this function, so some people will appreciate a spoiler notice. An article may contain analyses and background detail not available or at least not obvious in the work described. Where this is the case, some people feel a spoiler notice should be made prominent as a simple courtesy. Some WikiProjects, such as WikiProject Final Fantasy, have decided to limit use of this guideline.

Most specifically, no spoiler warnings for sections with the header "Plot" or "Characters".—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 02:27, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I am against the spoiler warning also because spoiler tags tends make articles fancruft-y, but I didnd't expect for the first paragraph to have such details only a synopsis at the most. When like every article I come across has a spoiler warning, I would've expected it to be here too. How can you guys do that there, but ignore it over here. This place doesn't make any sense! --Michaelzheng 02:37, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever happens to Vaan in FFXII is a spoiler for FFXII, but it's not a spoiler for FFXII RW. Kariteh 06:46, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Nearly all of the press about this game describes the setting including Vaan and Penelo as Sky Pirates. Perhaps since this is following fairly close for a side-story/sequel, it would come as a bit of a surprise, but seriously? There's way worse spoilers that can be revealed for FF12. --Moose 15:17, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't read about the game if you don't want to be spoiled... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.194.136.14 (talk) 20:31, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]

The article is good, but needs some fixing up based on GA criteria;

  • The tense of the article needs to be thoroughly checked; i already fixed some that talked about the games upcoming release, but its already out.
  • The middle image from the game needs a fair use rationale.
  • no game sales figures from japan?
  • famitsu review and score?
  • any audio information? ok if not, but good to have, just let me know.
  • could use another sentence of development, though you have found a lot.

Other than that, it looks great for a game that hasn't even been released in the US yet! Judgesurreal777 23:34, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I fixed all of those points except the last one. Bluerfn and others did a great work on this Development part; I guess there will be more information for it when the game is released in the West. Kariteh 11:02, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been fixed up on all points that I pointed out, as well as adding to gameplay and the story section and giving them references and building a respectable audio section. Thoughts for further improvement are the usual FA criteria; find even more development information and copyedit the hell out of it :) Congratulations. Judgesurreal777 03:49, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use of a colon

[edit]

In case anyone is wondering why I added the colon back, it is because Square Enix uses it in English:

This also follows what practically all reliable gaming sites are doing. --Teggles 02:50, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been convinced. Axem Titanium 20:49, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RTS or RPG

[edit]

The infobox says RPG but the article says RTS, could this be a typo?--ILoveSky (T | C) 07:00, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
