This article was created by the production company using the text from the BBC website. However, the text from the BBC website is written by the production company who then supply it to the BBC. Therefore, the text submitted for the article belongs to the production company who were the people that wrote the article. Therefore, it is not a breach of copyright.

I think you need to brush up on your copyright law. Also, the fact is that the original article, under the name Freaky eaters was prod'd and deleted. Coming back with another article on the same topic and only capitalizing the E in Eaters doesn't take care of the original problem with the article. 172.146.182.106 17:40, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have stubbed the article, removing the copyright vio section of the article (basically, the edpisode synopsis). And yes, whomever it was written by, it is copyrighted by the BBC site. If it needs speedied or prodded for another reason, feel free. Pastordavid 18:09, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Addicted to...

[edit]

I've removed the following from the article:

The series follows people with reported eating disorders, namely addiction to a particular type of food, most of the disorders are made up and the program is based on reported events.

Although each episode is titled "addicted to X", I feel this is misleading as the people on the show don't have an addiction in the sense that they are compelled to eat the food, it's more like the opposite, a phobia of foods which are "different". I've watched several episodes and one or two of the "freaky eaters" have described it this way. Also, the people on the show haven't been diagnosed with any recognized eating disorders, other than being labeled "freaky" by the show. Meddlingkid (talk) 12:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the name of the show is a consequence of a common misunderstanding of the word "addiction". The people on this show may well have an unhealthily monotonous diet, but to be quite honest, so what? They're adults and its up to them what they eat! This program is simply another social engineering idea, along the lines of "them and us" - it creates a means for "ordinary people" to watch and say "oh how weird....at least WE are not like that". The answer of course is "No, you're not like that, but so what?" More pseudoscience and watered down claptrap to placate the sheep. StanPomeray (talk) 21:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The base name Freaky Eaters will become a dab page.  — Amakuru (talk) 15:25, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– The American program is actually the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC according to page views, even though the UK version came first – the American version is currently incorrectly named under WP:NCTV in any case, and has to be moved (the alternative option would be Freaky Eaters (U.S. TV program), if this is considered to be a WP:NOPRIMARY situation). --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:41, 24 July 2018 (UTC) --Relisted. --IJBall (contribstalk) 14:23, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't have a strong preference whether the US is primary or not, but as my personal (not based on guidelines) view, it feels strange for the original show not to be the primary (I know that isn't how primary is decided). Anyways, I support the US change to either name. --Gonnym (talk) 23:32, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest that for those that feel similarly, the "WP:NOPRIMARY" option is probably best – simply disambiguate both (i.e. with "UK" and "U.S.")... --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:19, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
