TFIIJ

[edit]

Nothing is mentioned about the general transcription factor J. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.91.83.84 (talk) 11:39, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is FACT complex really considered a general transcription factor?

Basal transcription factors

[edit]

Is there a difference between basal transcription factors and general transcription factors? I always thought the terms were interchangeable, but I might have always been wrong. There is no entry for "basal transcription factor". For some reason "basal factor" redirects to "transcription factor". Is there a reason for that?

On another note, on this page it is mentioned that TFIIA is not a real basal transcription factor (although it must be a general transcription factor?), but on the main page for TFIIA it is said to be "one of several general (basal) transcription factors (GTFs)..."

Any help in clearing this up is appreciated! Forluvoft 15:43, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
