Conspiracy citation?

[edit]

Can anyone provide a citation or reference to the mention of a theory that Flight 771 was shot down? I was in the Middle East shortly after this and worked with an ATC operator who claimed to have been on duty and to have seen a high speed track intercept the aircraft on the ATC radar. Local authorities then turned up and removed the ATC recordings.

Just off-duty chat, but I always wondered.

I heard admittedly anecdotally from an ATC working at the tower at the time if not during that exact shift that it was an accidental shootdown by poorly trained sOldiers running a SAM battery. At the time the Iranian Air Force was flying phantoms into uae airspace to extort protection money, and the flight path I was told was perilously close to restricted airspace. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.230.159.105 (talk) 23:32, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
