Actually, I've been doing it in a lot of places lately, although I plan on leaving the FF articles to the FF Wikiproject for the time being. Take a look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Computer and video games#WP:FICT and video game characters for some more on this, including some input from WP:CVG on when it's appropriate to merge.

Even the FF Wikiproject doesn't support giving very minor characters who don't transcend their source material their own articles: see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Final Fantasy#FF7 minor character articles. - A Man In Black (conspire | past ops) 20:39, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
