Nationality

[edit]

Article says Kan is a "South Korean actress based in Japan" but also says "Kan was born in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. to a Korean father and a Japanese mother." Her father is a Korean immigrant and her mother is a second-generation Korean-Japanese. Kan was born in Japan so shouldn't it say "Japanese actress" instead, while also acknowledging her Korean heritage? TreeElf (talk) 07:53, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's been several edits on celebrities of Korean descent working in Japan that has me gotten into looking into it a bit more. (See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan/Archive/November 2023#Changing nationalities to Korean.) The Toyo Keizai article used as a source specifically uses the term "在日韓国人" which indicates that she is a Korean living in Japan but not necessarily having Japanese nationality. I brought it up at WP:JAPAN at this discussion before making the edit. lullabying (talk) 08:09, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
