Criticism section?

[edit]

Shouldn't there be a criticism section that talks about the issues with the index? For example bigger homes score better, but use more energy. Or how a house without a dishwasher at all scores as badly as a home with a standard (non-energy saving) dishwasher. Merge

[edit]

This page is clearly a duplicate with House energy rating and Energy performance certificate. Stanjourdan (talk) 22:11, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, these are not duplicates. The "House Energy Rating" page is broad in its description. The "Energy performance certificate" is specific to the EU. The "Home Energy Rating" page is specific to an ANSI Standard (ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301), which covers 20-25% of dwelling units built in the US.
I don't disagree that we could combine things. I think we could have a single page about "Home Performance", and then describe different countries and such. But I think it might get unwieldy - especially if we start talking in more detail about the green building programs. In the USA, for instance, you've got LEED for Homes, NGBS, ENERGY STAR, PHIUS, Zero Energy Ready Homes. EnergyRatingIndex (talk) 17:52, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

California Home Energy Rating System

[edit]

It seems like California Home Energy Rating System] ought to be listed under "See also", though I'm not sure if there's a prerequisite for it to have an article. Fabrickator (talk) 00:35, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think if I could reformat the whole article at this point I would. I've been reading a lot of earlier documents about home energy ratings, which has a more encompassing definition than what this current article covers. EnergyRatingIndex (talk) 21:02, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
