The caption on this picture is incorrect, there was no xl250 in 1992 that I know of. Serpentes 03:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Horsepower Claim Is Too High

[edit]

I have no idea what the later-year model XL 250s produced in the way of horsepower, but the 1972 XL250 K0 produces less than 12 horsepower at the rear wheel in stock condition. I can't find my original specs, but I'm pretty sure it was less than 10 actual ponies. NOT a powerful engine, but it was innovative and virtually bullet-proof. I will update this comment with dyno readings if I can document them. 98.194.39.86 (talk) 02:37, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct, sir! I own a 1973 Honda XL250 that runs like new. I also have the original (green) shop manual in a binder and I am certain that the max power is around 9HP. This bike is NOT fast or powerful. There is NO way this bike produces anything like 20+ HP. Never did, never will. Someone should correct this. 174.170.93.139 (talk) 17:35, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
