Introduction

[edit]

United We Stand, Divided We Fall. Isaac Shelby, Kentucky's First Colonel and Governor in 1791. If you do not have anything good to say, it is better not to say anything at all; and likewise if you cannot write the truth in a transparent and objective manner then you should probably not write. Authors of this article should understand that this information is published as a matter of fact, speculative, self-promoting, advertisement-like, poorly sourced, or particularly controversial or damaging information is not welcome on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is however a place where people learn things that they did not know before, especially from articles that demonstrate goodwill.

This article is about the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels the original article from this namespace was diligently researched and much of the organizational history presented has never been acknowledged or known prior to January 2021. All of the information is based on factual data that has been presented before the US District Court, it has been read and understood. Links to all the original resources can be found at the Library of Congress and other federal and state agencies.

The purpose of this Article is to disambiguate the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) with the idea of the Kentucky colonelcy to the degree and extent that: The HOKC is a distinct independent non-profit charitable organization (Kentucky Colonels website) and a commercial business enterprise engaged in the sale of merchandise (Kentucky Colonels Shop website); both engaged and dependent on the idea of the "colonel"; the HOKC is not mandated or controlled by the Commonwealth of Kentucky nor is it a state order; the HOKC may be an order of merit inasmuch as it recognizes its donors as members and rewards them with additional recognition for contributions; and donors (members) do not vote, elect the board members or are engaged in directing the collective philanthropy decisions of the organization. It should be clear by reading the Wikipedia Article that the Kentucky Colonel existed 15 years before Kentucky did, readers should also understand that "colonels" founded Kentucky itself, most of its counties are named after Kentucky colonels.

I felt that after spending a full year fighting in court with the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels which spent a quarter to a half-million dollars on litigation, and it then finally voluntarily settling the case against my former organization, that there needed to be some resolve so I wrote this complimentary article based on information that was offered to the US District Court under oath or under judicial notice.

Kentucky Colonelcy

I am the Problemsmith, also known as Col. David J. Wright. I just spent 12 months in a U.S. Federal lawsuit to prove the history I was compelled to research and discover. From February 2020 until February 2021 I spent the majority of my time dedicated to researching Kentucky Colonelcy to complete the writing an authoritative work in print and with a Creative Commons website. Although organization of a website and writing a book is a great endeavor I am open minded and objective regarding our content online. The history I have discovered about Kentucky colonelcy changed the official records and history accepted by the Secretary of State, the Filson Library and the Kentucky Historical Society which have accepted my work. Since they have, there should be no reason that Wikipédia users and editors do not as well. As a Creative Commons author, a book author and one that is recognized by the current Governor and Secretary of State as an authority on Kentucky colonelcy, I feel it is my duty as a Kentucky colonel to demonstrate transparency and defend the idea of the Kentucky Colonel from all of his origins. I have no personal financial interest in the formation or operation of an organization specifically for Kentucky colonels anymore and I am fully qualified to make greater qualified judgements about the subject and the researcher responsible for the website on the topic of Kentucky Colonelcy.

Writers here should understand that terms and words are very precise, how we use them are very distinct and should be understood. To become a "Kentucky colonel" is for the Governor to recognize someone with the "honorable" title with the award of the Kentucky Colonel commission. Kentucky Colonel is a title, Kentucky colonel is a person, Kentucky colonelcy refers to the duty and the status of being a colonel, Kentucky colonels are people with the title, Kentucky's colonels are colonels that belong to Kentucky, Kentucky colonel's beer is beer that belongs to Kentucky colonels, and then there are the ambiguous uses of Kentucky Colonels which includes the [KENTUCKY COLONELS] Mark which belongs to the HOKC.
