movie?

[edit]

Was this song ever used in a movie? I feel like I associate it with a certain movie, but can't think of which one. KannD86 (talk) 16:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Illstandcarrie.PNG

[edit]

Image:Illstandcarrie.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This song is used in a commercial for the World Society for the Protection of Animals. Does this commercial air outside Australia? Eligius (talk) 03:28, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Minuet in G Major

[edit]

The statement that the melody of "I'll Stand By You" is based on some piece of music "A" was true and should never have been removed. The statement was true even though it contained tacit assumptions that were false. It's false that the piece on which the "I'll Stand By You" melody is based is titled "Minuet For Lovers". Most people know it only as "Minuet In G" which might be a title or a description-in-lieu-of-title depending on whether such phrases worked the same way in minds back then as phrases we call 'titles' work in our minds now. It is false that the piece on which the "I'll Stand By You" melody is based was composed by JSBach. It was composed by Christian Pretzold. But to state that "I'll Stand By You" is derived from that piece of music (i.e. the minuet by Pretzold from which "I'll Stand By You" is derived) is still true whether you botch the title and composer or not. If I point at a cardinal and say "That bluejay is red" I am making a correct statement about the COLOR of the bird I am pointing at but making an incorrect statement about its NAME. You should not react as if I pointed at something that wasn't red and said it was red and therefore lied as to the color. That's not what I did. I made a true statement about the color of the thing being pointed at but erred ONLY in using the name of a different species. When we point at Pretzold's piece and say "that piece is the source" the utterance is true, and if we say "that Bach piece is the source" the fact of its being the source is still true while ONLY the assertion that Bach wrote it is false. You should restore (but then CORRECT) the text.2604:2000:C682:2D00:35E8:BA1:A70F:2CD7 (talk)Christopher L. Simpson —Preceding undated comment added 06:06, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Glee version

[edit]

I believe that the song is performed twice in the TV series Glee, including in The Quarterback. Is this notable enough to be mentioned in the article, and if so, where should it go? Thanks. JohnLaurensAnthonyRamos333 (correct me if I'm wrong) 19:07, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
