Is the informal definition in the introduction helpful? Why not just start with the number of cosets? Would it be better to say cardinality? Quotient group (talk) 20:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I too think that for a math page like this, it makes more sense to start with the actual definition, and only afterwards to explain intuitively what it is trying to measure. Ebony Jackson (talk) 00:15, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
