need to add more material: possibly a contents section containing sections about Islam Channel; it's aim and goal; how to view on sky or through other co-ordinates; quick documentation about past events co-hosted by Islam Channel (i.e. GPU, Islamaphobia event etc); popular programmes such as the Agenda, Islamqa. what else? Itaqallah 17:24, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i have added some sub-headings. need to merge the Hassan and Habibah page and redirect it here and put all (edit: some, as much of the content is irrelevant and not needed Itaqallah 17:28, 10 June 2006 (UTC)) of its content under the relevant sub-heading. Itaqallah 17:24, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about Journey Within? and also mention the animated film about the Prophet (pbuh) as it is launched by the IC? Sofia

Neutrality

[edit]

Whilst I might feel Muslims are criminally misrepresented in the mainstream media, it is fundamentally a point of view statement, as is the suggestion that this paticular channel is unbiased. It may endeavour to be so, but it can not be categorically stated as fact.

somewhat agreed. much of the information present on here to date has been taken straight from their websites until time is found to re-write it accordingly. Itaqallah 03:57, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have put a NPOV flag in the article due to its use of 'we', 'our' etc. A quick edit would remove these. It might be wise to also note that the use of these narrow casting can create a ghetto mentality where a minority all listen to a different 'narrative' to the majority population.Cosnahang (talk) 12:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of programmes?

[edit]

Is this really appropriate? Surely not in list form, just in a prose paragraph the most popular should be mentioned. I'll cut it down if no one else trims it. Malick78 (talk) 23:00, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no preference, either way.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:23, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hatnote

[edit]

I'm just going to put in a hatnote to Islamic TV and vice versa - just had a little difficulty getting to the page here. Cheers. Stevebritgimp (talk) 00:47, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Potential for misunderstanding

[edit]

//The show has challenged mainly South-Asian cultural perceptions on the nature of Islam, dealing with topics such as: forced marriage, domestic violence with the Muslim women's helpline, depression with the Muslim Youth Helpline, and infertility problems with Mohammad Taranissi.[8][9]

They have occasionally dealt with more serious topics, specifically, on 25 December 2004, a show entitled "Prisoners of Iman" which discussed cases of Muslims who have been imprisoned for their faith or political activity. They interviewed the wife of Ian Nisbet, one of the "Egypt Three".[citation needed]''//

The juxtaposition of the two paragraphs above, and the use of the phrase "more serious topics" in particular, should be revised. The reader can only conclude that the author considers forced marriage, domestic violence, depression and infertility to be trivial, or of significantly lesser importance than the imprisonment of Muslims for their faith or political activity.

If indeed this is the view of the author, then questions of neutrality, balance and overall suitability for an encyclopedia are called into question. I am not an expert on Islam and do not wish to make the revision myself. I do nonetheless feel that a poor impression is created unnecessarily.Cajetan da kid (talk) 03:57, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
