re-structuring the article

[edit]

Hi, I had prepared a draft for the section structure, please go through it and after a required c/e we can upgrade the section accordingly:

Istiqlal Mosque is located in Jakarta the national capital of Indonesia, in the Merdeka Square near to the Presidential Palace on the street across the city's Roman Catholic cathedral,(s4)
The Istiqlal mosque, architecture includes the combination of Islamic concept of holy structure and urban modern architecture of 20th century, The mosque main structure consist of one minaret, one large and one small dome, and a spherical prayer hall building.(S1) The minaret with 300 feet hight is shaped as a pointed spire, towering over the courtyard,(S3) it is connected to main building with a gallery of arcades,(S4) The main dome is of 140 feet in diameter, located exactly over the main prayer hall, supported by twelve pillars,(S3) and six structural columns,(S2) covered and decorated with pinnacle made up of stainless steel, and its rim is engraved with calligraphic verses from the holy Quran. The ground floor consist of Main hall, courtyard and ablution areas, The main hall is of 6,000 square yards and the interior design is minimalist, simple and clean-cut, The courtyards on the south and east sides of the mosque have a total area of about 35,000 square yards, the abolution area located on the ground floor is where 600 worshipers can perform Wadu at once. The main hall, along with five floors(S3) and the court yard together provides the space to congregate 120,000 worshipers.(S1) The exterior of the mosque is decorated and covered with marble and glass,(S4) and surrounding is laid with landscaping and parking lots.
foot notes: (S1), (S2), (s3), (S4 page-3-4).

Once we get the reliable source we can update the Islamic philosophy applied in the structure construction. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 09:34, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The part mentioning Obama and tourists is confusing

[edit]

I suggest a rewording, something like: “Obama’s visit in 20XX helped boost foreign tourism of the mosque, up to an average daily attendance of 20 tourists, mostly Europeans.” 73.159.224.147 (talk) 21:52, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Supported. Or one might delete this passage altogether and find some more current information about tourist numbers. To be quite honest, twenty tourists per day seem almost too embarrassing to even be mentioned, considering this is a major monument in a major city. The Cologne Cathedral gets 20,000 visitors per day, just to put this into perspective. --2003:C0:8F0F:CE00:45F:BCAC:5D5E:2BD0 (talk) 11:25, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
