does she voice Tia Marribel in blech as well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.138.221 (talk) 04:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

voice credits: Keiko or Kayko?

[edit]

I've seen a few back-and-forth edits on the character that Laura played in Yu Yu Hakusho. Kayko is the spelling that Funimation used for the English dub credits and related publications. Keiko is the spelling in the Yu Yu Hakusho manga. On Laura's official website, she credits herself as playing Keiko. AngusWOOF (talk) 19:21, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ingress?

[edit]

I think this voice actress voices Ada from Ingress (game), but I can't find proof. Sounds identical, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.145.202.26 (talk) 05:44, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

notable roles

[edit]

Can the IP who keeps adding "her most notable role is Maka Albarn in Soul Eater" please provide a news article that proves this? I tried to mix it back with her other big anime roles (FMA, Shin-Chan, Fruits Basket) the latter of which have been cited by numerous anime profiles, but it keeps getting undone. -AngusWOOF (talk) 03:14, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Spider-Man Unlimited video game credit

[edit]

Laura Bailey is listed in the credits for the Spider-Man Unlimited gamefor the iOS, Android and Windows phone. However I can't find a listing of theses credits that is up to date with the games most recent update which added female characters to the game. How do I go about referencing this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frogoat (talkcontribs) 05:11, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So is she listed in the game's credits section or not? If she was then you can use "cite video game" and that particular version with accessdate or version if it disappeared later. I saw posts where a blog with your username asked Gameloft through email and they confirmed it, but that part is original research. Ideally she should be listed in the credits section. You can also send her a tweet asking about it and hope she confirms that per WP:SELFPUB. -AngusWOOF (talk) 15:39, 11 December 2014 (UTC), updated 17:15, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Star Trek Online

Laura's birthday

[edit]

In not wanting to cause an edit war, I put May 28th, because in the source, Laura says that her and Liam share a birthday, saying: "But [Liam] and I share a birthday in real life". Liam's birthday is known as being the 28th of May (sourced on his page), making her birthday also May 28th, so its just not her year that's unknown.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 08:53, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@QueerFilmNerd I added the date of birth, 28th of May, based on rotten tomatoes, just as in her spouse's article. Osalbahr (talk) 19:47, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, also there's this tweet by Travis. https://twitter.com/willingblam/status/603803183685574656 Frem3 (talk) 15:47, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You would have to piece the tweets together as your reference because the Geek and Sundry reference does not say "May 28", only that she and Liam share a birthday. Travis's tweet shows as posted on May 27, depending on time zone, so you will need something that says May 28 on it. Can you find a tweet from Liam or Laura about May 28 or some tweet where it clearly says "it's my birthday today" and its in the middle of May 28? She also has some tweets wishing others happy birthday with timers on them like "only 30 minutes left to wish @matthewmercer a happy birthday" Also if it is just the month and day it does not need to be listed in the lead sentence. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:22, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
How's this? I did a search and there's several tweets of her thanking people (on the 28th of May) for wishing her happy birthday (including this and this). Also this and this from Liam.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 20:38, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The first and third ones are good because they're timestamped in the middle of the day. The second one is not as good because it was posted on the 29th and doesn't mention "today". The last one is okay too, but I think you can make a reference out of the first and third tweets. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:38, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good!--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 03:45, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This year she posted this tweet, so I think It's save to assume. --Modgamers (talk) 19:02, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's nice, but there needs to be a source for her birth year. Month and day aren't useful to keep in the infobox. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:06, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@AngusWOOF would rotten tomatoes be considered a reliable source? I edited the birthday section to match her spouse's article. Osalbahr (talk) 19:49, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Osalbahr, not for birthdays. We know her month and day, just not the year. Need newspaper article to confirm that part, or a self-posted tweet like "Today I am xx years old." AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 19:54, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@AngusWOOF so do you think my edit should be reverted? Osalbahr (talk) 19:57, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Modgamers would it be possible that they just decided to "share" the birthday celebration even if they didn't share the same birthday? Osalbahr (talk) 19:49, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this person is the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for people with this name. Currently there are two others who share this name, Laura Bailey (footballer) and Laura Bailey (model). Looking at page views, on average this person gets as much as 20× more than the other two. This article also has 480 incoming links, double what the other two have at most. As far as long-term significance, I believe this person has that two as they have been voicing major characters in many notable TV series and video games for years now, where the other two don't appear to have such a career. Not to mention this article has over 150 references, more than ten times of that in the other articles. My only worry is all the links that will have to be corrected if this is moved. Link20XX (talk) 05:55, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - adds ambiguity without an matching benefit. No one has problems locating this article under its current, clear title (WP:AINTBROKE), recent view counts are likely only due to recent career activity, and long-term significance has not been established. -- Netoholic @ 09:49, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • I disagree that this person doesn't have long-term significance. Looking at the article, they have been working in the industry for decades and continue to voice major characters as recently as 2021 with Tohru Honda in the remake of Fruits Basket. Comparatively, the footballer has only been active from 2017 to 2020 (at least according to the article), and the article on the model makes it hard to tell long-term significance because it is frankly not good. Looking at page views, the view count pattern has been like this for over five years, which is certainly not "recent", especially since that is 1/4 of the time Wikipedia has existed for. Link20XX (talk) 15:06, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sadly, as true for a number of voice actors, they can be prolific workers, but hold a very low public profile or significance. I note also that this article requires the use of (voice actress) to disambiguate, because the model has also acted. Another bit of evidence as to why it benefits everyone to have clear titles and not introduce ambiguity that could lead to bad internal wikilinks which may conflate the topics. While the VA may be relatively more long-term significant, I'm just saying that none of the topics meet the threshold which justifies accepting future linking mistakes and related maintenance/clean-up. -- Netoholic @ 20:38, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
        • Alright. Good to know that a person can have 20× more page views, a much more long-term significance, twice as many incoming links, and more than ten times the sources and still not be the primary topic, despite this being the criteria discussed at WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Link20XX (talk) 20:49, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Per Netoholic, not seeing the point of adding ambiguity. After taking a look at WP:DISAMBIG, I think it makes the most sense to keep the disambiguation page as is rather than adding hat notes at Laura Bailey directing people to the other Laura Baileys. Sariel Xilo (talk) 18:33, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Clear primary topic in terms of significance, with the voice actress being a well-known celebrity. It is not exactly unheard of for people to get the primary topic when their pages are so much more widely viewed.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:47, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Obvious primary topic, the page views are not even in the same universe - the model has 50-100 views a day, the voice actress has 2500-3500 and occasional spikes even higher. She could retire tomorrow and still easily be the primary topic. Her bit on Critical Role is probably more like vanilla "actress" anyway, so unless the proposal is that all actors / actresses auto-lose at being primary topics, can't really see a good rationale for opposing this move. SnowFire (talk) 04:43, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Clear primary topic. —Xezbeth (talk) 15:58, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Clear primary topic by every metric by which we measure this question. The list of major multimedia franchises for which she has prominently voiced key characters is basically the entire list of major multimedia franchises having a voice-acting component – Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Halo, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Resident Evil – the list is iconic. BD2412 T 06:56, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per BD2412. If relevance and significance is lost as predicted, then it can be addressed when that time comes. We cannot reliably predict the future relevance or lack thereof, to my knowledge. Just about every person, living or dead, could potentially gain/lose significance with enough passage of time. Hasky

[edit]

Is there a reason there's no mention of her appearance as Hasky in the original Dragon Ball? Kranitoko (talk) 21:11, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kranitoko, is there a reference that confirms that appearance? I've only seen references for her recurring roles in the series like Young Trunks in Dragon Ball Z. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 01:41, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@anguswoof well apparently she plays more than just Hasky. It's difficult to provide a reference, because the only official reference I have is that she's literally listed in the credits of the FUNIMATION edit. The Dragonball wiki also has her characters listed in the series https://dragonball.fandom.com/wiki/Laura_Bailey , these being Chi-Chi (kid), Fanfan, Hasky, Ranfan, and Akane Kimidori. Is there any other way I can obtain a real source? Kranitoko (talk) 21:13, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kranitoko, if you have the exact episode where the closing credit says "Hasky.......Laura Bailey" then you can cite that. But I don't know if the old Dragon Ball individual episodes list her as such or just her grouped in a "Voices provided by..." list. Fandom's not a reliable source as it's user-generated. WP:RSP AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 01:35, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately it just has her grouped with people, but you can clearly tell its her. The thing is, is it right to not even include credits of work she was clearly in even if it's never specifically named? Kranitoko (talk) 08:02, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have a source now technically. Basically her Wikipedia page already uses "behind the voice actors" as a source. Her four characters are at the VEEEERRRYYY bottom of the list

https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Laura-Bailey/

Kranitoko (talk) 18:46, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also note: she did the FUNIMATION dub, so this was like 2001-2002 time. Kranitoko (talk) 18:48, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As per WP:ANIME/RS#Situational, Behind the Voice Actors is only reliable for roles with the green check mark, which that one does not have. Link20XX (talk) 19:40, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
