What template should be used to denote that episode synopses for Steven Universe Future can be found on the main article?

The argument doesn't seem to be about what template to use to denote that episode synopses for Steven Universe Future can be found at the Steven Universe Future article, but rather whether to denote that at all, or to assume readers will figure it out for themselves. AJD (talk) 07:51, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I feel like I ought to point out that the template documentation for Template:Main explicitly says that Main is not to be used for this purpose: "It is not to be used... when the section expounds a specific aspect of the topic instead of summarizing its article." But in honesty that's not why I oppose it here; I oppose it because Main doesn't make it possible to clarify that episode summaries can be found at the linked page, instead of just being missing. AJD (talk) 14:55, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that. I'm sure that the other editors are able to read the discussion above, where the same points were discussed. -- /Alex/21 22:51, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alex 21 asks above: "Why [use the custom section option on the Template:Main]? The Steven Universe Future article and Steven Universe Future episodes article are the same article. Also, if we're linking to a main article, we link to an article, not a section." Alex 21, your opinions about how Template:Main is to be used don't seem to accord with how the designers of Template:Main intend it to be used, seeing as how the functionality of linking to a section is built in to the template. In any event, I don't favor this suggestion; I'd rather use something that enables us to just state explicitly that episode synopses are to be found at the linked page. AJD (talk) 17:22, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Brojam and Gonnym: Can you clarify whether your preference is in favor of using Template:Main "to denote that episode synopses for Steven Universe Future can be found on the main article," as MiasmaEternal phrased the question, or whether it's more specifically in favor of using Template:Main but not stating explicitly that episode synopses can be found there, since the latter is what I'm more interested in addressing? AJD (talk) 03:39, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No need to explicitly say that the synopses are there since we don't do that for other WP:TV articles. - Brojam (talk) 19:00, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Other artivles having the same problem isn't an argument for not fixing this one; it's an argument for fixing the others also. Is there a reason to believe it wouldn't be an improvement? Remember, the typical reader of this page doesn't know what other WP:TV articles do or why; they're just trying to read Steven Universe episode descriptions. AJD (talk) 19:07, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But the separate article is not just synopses so not sure why we would choose to explicitly highlight that part. If a reader wants to see more about Steven Universe whether that is just for the episode plot summaries or for other stuff then the {{Main}} template is perfect. - Brojam (talk) 19:47, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
My point is that if a casual reader is reading this article, they'll see this article contains a synopsis for every episode except those of Steven Universe Future. The reader has no reason to know that the reason that the episode synopses for Steven Universe Future are missing from this article is because they're at the article Steven Universe Future instead; after all, this is the article with "list of episodes" in the title, all the other episodes have synopses here, and the article Steven Universe itself doesn't contain episode synopses. To a reader unfamiliar with the ins and outs of WP:TV practices—which, I stress, is almost all readers—it just looks like the Steven Universe Future episode synopses alone are missing because nobody got around to adding them. I still think that the obviously correct and user-friendly this to do would be to just put the Steven Universe Future episode synopses in this article, but having lost that battle, I at least think we should tell readers explicitly where they can find information that looks like it should be in this article but isn't. No "change X to Y" but an addition of a column to the table. The original series and movie have episode production codes listed but "Steven Universe Future" does not. Some of these are known. The sources are model sheets from the Steven Universe wiki linked which list the production code on the right hand side.

I also included my best guess as to the missing ones based on episode order and story staff rotation but I assume that's not enough evidence to include them at this time.

I'm all for correcting the record on Jesse's name, but you'll need a better source, since that's just announcing they're nonbinary with no mention of the name Jesse yet. Harryhenry1 (talk) 06:30, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fandom Wikis and IMDb can't be used as reliable sources. Not sure about Reddit, but I doubt that's counted as reliable either. Harryhenry1 (talk) 02:45, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Darn it! Oh well, maybe if we can conctact more of our wikipedia friends to find the sources to confirm. 75.113.159.27 (talk) 03:50, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
