More references needed

[edit]

This list is full of non-notable entries. That is irregular when it comes to Wikipedia list-class articles, which are typically populated by items notable enough to merit their own article on the project. But wait, it gets worse. Not even the notable items carry a reliable secondary source. In order to conform with verifiability policy and in order that vandals cannot simply add random names to this list, we need to cite entries to reliable sources as we go. So there is much work to be done here. Hope this helps. Elizium23 (talk) 03:57, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Elizium23: Thanks! One thing that Wikipedia:Verifiability notes is that references are needed for material that is "challenged or likely to be challenged". I think simple lists of schools (currently operating) can be checked against the school authority's website, so often simple entries haven't been cited in U.S. school district articles. However I have decided to add further details such as historical stuff (when schools were established, when they got additions) and also information on the actual locations of the schools (the "city names" U.S. Postal Service addresses often do not match where the location actually is, since, as stated in the City of Houston's website, the USPS gives address names based on convenience). Therefore I'm more than happy to add citations to support those details and just did that for several of them. Formerly operating schools should definitely have citations as the information may not be as easy to readily find: stuff from 1996 and onwards may be on the Internet Archive but stuff from before 1996 may be more sparse and may require Wikipedia:RX.
