First Welsh residence for a Prince of Wales?

[edit]

Is this the Prince's first Welsh residence? Has a Prince of Wales resided in Wales before? --Wetman 17:31, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

It is certainly the first property in Wales owned and occupied by the current PoW. Historically, it is described as "the first royal residence in Wales since the English Civil War" but I am not clear what the others are, apart from obvious candidates like Caernarvon Castle where Edward II was born. --mervyn (talk) 12:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

[edit]

Should it be clarified that the property is not actually owned by the Prince of Wales, but by the Duchy of Cornwall? NJRoyal (talk) 03:23, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and I have done so. The property is clearly owned by the Duchy, so will fall to Prince William on the Queen's death (assuming everyone dies in the expected order). It is not held by Prince Charles personally. -Rrius (talk) 06:00, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
