US-centric?

[edit]

A little US-centric? Perhaps "Typical costs _in the US_ are...", and some examples of the differences between the countries in which lock-boxen are available?--Avapoet (talk) 08:24, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What About Door Handles?!

[edit]

Umm you guys do realize that a lock box also refers to a common locking device for door handles, right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.10.123.113 (talk) 00:39, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is that a reference to a Mortise lock or a Bored cylindrical lock or something else? — BarrelProof (talk) 03:29, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LockboxLockbox (accounts receivable) – If there is a primary topic for "lockbox", it is safe or vault or locker – i.e., a box that can be locked, not a banking service for processing incoming payments (a usage of the term that most people have never even heard of). In everyday reality, a "lockbox" is primarily a place for the figurative or literal safekeeping of items, as famously promoted by U.S. presidential candidates Al Gore and George W. Bush (please click that link, it's worth a loook!), e.g., as reported in this article in the Los Angeles Times (and discussed in several different Wikipedia articles, such as at 2000 United States presidential election § Notable expressions and phrases). Another potential title I thought about was "Lockbox (banking)", but that would also not be clear at all, since banks also have safe deposit boxes and bank vaults, which are lockboxes. Since there are different types of lockboxes, it may be best to create a disambiguation page with the various meanings (also including other meanings such as the one related to information security & cryptography, real estate lock box a.k.a. key box, post office box, Amazon Locker, and Packstation. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:49, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
