Darlington Works

[edit]

The NER took over the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1863 but locomotives continued to be built to SDR designs at Darlington Works until 1873.[1] Should these be shown here or at Locomotives of the Stockton and Darlington Railway? Roberttherambler (talk) 15:31, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NER numbering

[edit]

We lack information on numbering of NER locos. Can anyone help? Roberttherambler (talk) 23:02, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Newcastle and Carlisle Locomotives

[edit]

the reference for the list is "Locomotives of the North Eastern Railway" by John S. Maclean but i dont know how to insert references — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirdouglas1994 (talkcontribs) 11:35, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Sirdouglas1994: See Help:Referencing for beginners. But apart from that, why should a list of individual N&C locomotives be included? We don't provide that level of detail for, say, the Fletcher locomotives. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:34, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@redrose64 what about the individual list of other constituant locos right above my N&C? Sirdouglas1994 (talk) 11:34, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If anything, that is worse and deserves to be removed even more strongly. There is much uncertainty and vagueness, such as: 170 or 171; question marks in column 2; 1847/48; 129 class (or 76 class). Such things would indicate guesswork, were it not for the fact that each entry is referenced, mostly to SteamIndex. Now SteamIndex is a tertiary source; where do they get their information from? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:56, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
