Classification

[edit]

According to contemporaneous sources (some of which are in the article), this was released as a studio album. There seems to be some dispute over whether this should be classified as an EP, apparently based on something on Spotify (but not referenced in the article). I would go with the multiple contemporaneous sources and list this as an album but looking for additional feedback. Rlendog (talk) 00:05, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The technical definition of an EP, which dates back to the 50s, is a format (such as a 7" single) including more than the standard two songs. In the 70s, primarily through disco, formats were modified. A 12" was also a single (which included either two tracks, three tracks, or an instrumental version of the A side). All that said, with all due respect to Spotify (which came into existence 30 years after Macho Man was released), both "Macho Man" and the first album, "Village People," appeared on the albums chart, received gold and platinum album awards, referred to as albums in reviews, and were marketed as albums. They're albums. Hotcop2 (talk) 13:39, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

One-sided?

[edit]

The album appears to only have one side. PeepleLikeYou (talk) 04:33, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It has two sides Hotcop2 (talk) 17:34, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This should go without saying, but I'm discussing the content of the Wikipedia article rather than the album. Please examine the article associated with this talk page and notice that it claims that the album only has one side. PeepleLikeYou (talk) 22:50, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. All the Village People album entries appear to follow the CD listings, so I removed the dangling "Side 1" and just listed the tracks. Good catch! Hotcop2 (talk) 21:50, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
