Death Procedure

[edit]

I see that the Colombian Army claims he is dead according to BBC World News (the top story as of now). What is needed, confirmation wise, for this to be able to go on Wikipedia? (Nicolaususry (talk) 23:45, 24 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

BBC coverage is enough to get this in the article, with the caveat that the Colombian Army is the only source as of now. Joshdboz (talk) 00:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A really good confirmation would be directly from FARC, however there is a silence policy and I don´t think they would confirm it, that would enhance the internal breakdown. Also, they main route of information, www.farcep.org has been down for months. --ometzit<col> (talk) 00:16, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I might point out that even the Colombian president is not stating conclusively that Marulanda is dead yet. We shouldn't either. Right now I think we should do the following with the article until further confirmation: leave his death date as 2008 but with a question mark beside it; mention the report of his death in the introduction; and in the section on his alleged death we should mention any pertinent information that the Colombian Defense Minister has offered concerning the circumstances surrounding Marulanda's possible death. Objections? Sjmcfarland (talk) 08:07, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well FARC has confirmed his death. My comments are now void.Sjmcfarland (talk) 21:21, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Im kinda new here. Is it good to have the Video section have a link to a site selling a video? You cannot watch it free. Seems a bit too commercial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.198.79 (talk) 00:32, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
