Maria was not a daughter of an emperor, and thus should not have the style "Imperial Highness". She was a Royal Highness. --66.176.169.100 17:11, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What? That doesn't affect her imperial status.

If she had "imperial status" she lost it when she married. Especially marrying below her rank. --StanZegel (talk) 04:37, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maria was the granddaughter of Emperor Leopold II and all Archdukes and Archduchess of Austria are styled His/Her Imperial and Royal Highness. She didn't have lose her her style as Imperial highness because she married below her rank (the Kingdom of Spain was on equal level with the Austrian Empire regardless of their difference in titles); she lost it once she became Her Majesty the Queen of Spain.--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 00:54, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know anything about how stuff like that works? "marrying below her rank, lost on marriage", WHAT?. Yanksta x 17:29, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whether they were daughters/sons of Emperors or not, all members of the Austrian Imperial Family held the style Imperial and Royal Highness. --2.96.160.99 (talk) 18:51, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article says Alphonso's 1st wife, Maria de las Mercedes, died four years after their marriage in 1878 -- which is impossible if Alphonso married Maria Christina in 1879. Alphonso's article says his 1st wife died less than 6 months after the marriage. Anyone? --Michael K. Smith 03:09, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maria Christina's Titles and Styles

[edit]

I know that, as being an Austrian Archduchess, she was styled as Her Imperial and Royal Highness. When her son, Alfonso XIII of Spain married Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, what was her style then? Did she have a similar title to Queen Mother and Queen Dowager? Or was she just Her Majesty Queen Maria Christina of Spain? Does anyone know? Thanks. --PrincessAlice13 (talk) 18:48, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
