Wish I could help on this one. I went to high school with Marlon; he was a star jock athlete even then -- football and baseball -- and one of the genuine nice guys (I was neither a jock nor particularly cool in any other way; my memory of him was someone who was genuinely good to everyone, socially acceptable or not). He was ultra-gifted, and I think everyone then thought he'd go on to be a star football player.
