With regret, I have chosen to fail this article as I feel it doesn't meet the criteria. Although it wouldn't be grounds to fail this because Meyer's career is in its infancy, I'm concerned about the article's verifiability. Several sentences are unsourced.

  • Stating in the lead "He is also considered as a wonderkid by many" and citing it with a opinion piece by one writer from goal.com is not exactly verifiable. What does wonderkid mean in the context of a footballer?
  • Many sentences are left uncited, for instance "With the Schalke U-19 he won the 2011–12 German U-19 Championship against Bayern Munich with a 2–1 win in the final.", "He also won the U-19 Bundesliga West in the same season.", "Following the departure of Lewis Holtby to Tottenham Hotspur and the injuries of several other players he was included in the Bundesliga and Champions League squad" and "Nevertheless, he was top scorer and awarded best player of the tournament."
  • While the references are structured appropriately, there is no author, work/publisher, publish and retrieval date for Ref 16.
  • Although this is not exactly a requirement for GA, the article could be more broad in its coverage. Given the player has not exactly made a name for himself on the European football stage, you could find more information about him if you use German sources. His German wiki has a Spielweise (style of play) section, which includes direct quotes from the player himself about his strengths – cited of course. A similar section for this entry would only benefit the reader.

Feel free to have this article reassessed if you think the review is wrong. Lemonade51 (talk) 17:33, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
