does non-existent street belong in Streets category

[edit]

The no longer extant Melbourne Street, Perth is in Category:Streets in Perth central business district, Western Australia. Do we need a Category:Defunct streets in Perth central business district, Western Australia or should we state explicitly that street categories include defunct streets?

According to Milligan Street, Perth#Melbourne Street "In December 2017 the City of Perth Council agreed to rename the portion of Milligan Street between Roe and James Streets back to Melbourne Street." Has anyone heard any update on this? Perhaps if we wait awhile Melbourne St will become non-defunct. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:10, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now there's a street sign set up by the council, says "Melbourne Steeet, formerly known as Milligan Street" there. Maybe I can take and upload some photos if I got some free time there. Shinjiman 03:58, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A photo would be good. A reference to something in a gazette or news article explicitly stating that the name has changed (and when/why) would also be good, if anyone is aware of such a reference. I'll probably see if I can find one myself, when I can spare the time. Mitch Ames (talk) 11:42, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

refs

[edit]

Do we have some more references for this article? Some of the Milligan Street, Perth#Melbourne Street references could be used here, but there's some material in Melbourne Street, Perth that disagrees with or is not covered by Western Australia: An atlas of human endeavour and online refs, and aeon.sro.wa.gov.au is offline at the moment.
