This article should be REMOVED

[edit]

As a great fan of Wikipedia, this article shows the limits of this open format. Memory loss causes great distress among untold millions of older people, myself included. There is enough controversy among experts. Even the respected Alzheimer's Association is wrong on some things, such as saying that normal age related loss of memory is an "Open Question."

99 percent of Wikipedia articles are valuable, even if they have some errors, some vandalism. But this is too serious.

Excellent information on memory loss, focusing on pathology, is available at Medscape.com. Those who are concerned, which are most people over 40 who do suffer normal memory loss, should not take any of the recommendations here as valid, and many on seemingly legitimate medical sites are equally self serving, increasing fear of Alzheimer's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arodb (talkcontribs) 07:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Memory Loss

[edit]

Memory loss affects some people. It has severe social and lifestyle implications on those that suffer from memory loss. It is often not understood by others because is isn't a physical disability. It is unforunate that some people vandalise this page to poke fun at a disability. This article has the ability to help people understand the condition better.122.59.11.3 (talk) 23:38, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What about memory loss due to intoxication?

---

memory loss due to depression, memory loss due to side effects of certain drugs?

---

Post-traumatic stress disorder?

Reliable sources?

[edit]

Tagging this as having unreliable sources, because there are some very dubious claims here, especially in the therapy section, about certain alternative treatments being effective. The only references for most of this text consists of sites that sell these treatments and associated books, notably healthynewage.com. Smocking (talk) 22:34, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

False claims

[edit]

The article makes many claims, most notably in the "Prevention" section, of various substances that allegedly prevent memory loss. Many of the vitamins listed are only beneficial when countering a deficiency, which are fairly uncommon in the developed world due to only small amounts being required, and the bodies tolerance of temporary minor deficiencies. Really, the article needs good sources, and a good rewrite, since it makes a lot of grandiose claims about the effects of supplementation, which are rarely so dramatic. 174.112.10.156 (talk) 19:41, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
