"Hologram nail art"

[edit]

Apologies if this is not the correct way to handle this, but I haven't edited Wikipedia in several years so I'm not really sure of any better way to do this.

The nail art shown here (file:Hologram_nail_art.jpg) that is used as an example of "hologram nail art" in this article seems like an inappropriate image to use as an example. First of all, it is not holographic, so it does not accurately represent what it purports to. But secondly, it is clearly not even an actual image of nail art - the stars have been sloppily Photoshopped on top of a blurry picture of a hand. I cannot help but wonder if the original "artist" of this image posted it here themselves in an attempt to get more attention, as it simply is not a good example image.

Here is a single example of what a holographic effect actually looks like on nails, though you can find many more, so that makes it clear that whatever is on the nails in the picture used in the article, it is not holographic. But I also feel, as a nail artist, that is is probably not appropriate to use such a digitally altered picture to represent nail art, especially when there are millions of pictures of genuine nail art that are in the public domain, or that the artists would gladly offer up as an example which could be used with permission.

I also wanted to note that I have never heard an actual nail artist use the term "hologram nail art." It's "holographic." "Hologram" is misleading and confusing, and just not a term that is widely used within the hobby/business. --Shivers talk 11:17, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, 'hologram'/'holographic' is just advertising. Arlo James Barnes 21:55, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I could not find a source supporting the claim of his nails being gold and silver, nor an explanation or an example of "fancy nail set". Mayaharran (talk) 03:22, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am editing this article as a college assignment. I would like to expand the first section "Nail Art". I would also like to edit any sections that may be missing information or citations. NelPurple22 (talk) 13:03, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
