Numbers

[edit]

Need numbers of people killed or maimed by RENAMO forces during this militia's years of activity. Why is this not already in the article? Badagnani (talk) 01:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

United States

[edit]

This source states that the United States provided support to RENAMO. Badagnani (talk) 20:05, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

insufficient information

[edit]

"In the United States, the CIA and conservative lobbied for support to RENAMO, which was strongly resisted by the State Department which would "not recognize or negotiate with RENAMO".[2][3][4] The British government under Margaret Thatcher did not view the civil war in Mozambique as a part of the Cold War in the extent that could have been thought and when FRELIMO closed the border to Rhodesia it was in fit well with British interests against the rebel colony while the Rhodesian government supported RENAMO.

FRELIMO also forced Mugabe to accept the Lancaster House Agreement for the end to the war in Rhodesia.[5]"

This all needs some contextualisation, and explanation, if it is to stay in - why wouldn't the state department negotiat with RENAMO? What relevance is the thatcher sentence?

And the last sentence is about Frelimo while this article is about RENAMO - this may be relevant, but it needs explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamsorandom (talkcontribs) 22:16, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kidnappings

[edit]

I came to this article to find information on the Renamo kidnappings and forced militarization of children, but surprisingly its not even mentioned. A Google search turned up many references: books, articles, even documentaries. This article seems to treat them as a valid political party which, while I understand the article must remain neutral, seems to be decpeptive.Sheriffjt (talk) 02:56, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article is barely more than a stub, so feel free to add referenced content you come across. Greenman (talk) 11:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is it acceptable to just reference the already existing article on the Mozambique Civil War, given it has a subsection on RENAMO atrocities?Sheriffjt (talk) 18:42, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
