Original Research

[edit]

I will be removing the bulk of the politics section as it is Original Research. Some references such as those to waaqism in Rauso are completely absent from the source whereas other such as those proclaiming a supposed Jabarta or Ximan civilization aren't given legitimate reference. No specific book of Al Maqrizi is given for these claims. Most of the other claims are not specificlly stated in the cited works Somaliaficionado (talk) 04:55, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit in error, it has been restored. Felicia (talk) 14:01, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The sources are not original research. Why did you try to remove the whole page the other day?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rauso&diff=prev&oldid=1238406248
Do not remove cited information for example Kirwan, Laurence (2002). Studies on the History of Late Antique and Christian Nubia. Ashgate Variorum. p. 42. ISBN 978-0-86078-893-5. 148.252.146.97 (talk) 14:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not engage in an edit war Felicia (talk) 14:13, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That isnt my account firstly, secondly, you mind send me a quote from the book saying that because I couldn't find it on google books search Somaliaficionado (talk) 14:25, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure @Landheer Somali is not your account? The sources are cited in the article. Press the links. 148.252.146.97 (talk) 14:34, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure @coastalmerch @philantro man and @ynilsa aren't yours? Also I've looked through these sources they dont mention what is claimed. The source fr Waaqism being practiced in Rauso doesnt mention Rauso at all for instance. The source for the "Harli civilization" doesnt mention Rauso either. The sources for the Jabarta are completely illligetimate. They don't even give a specfic book of Al Maqrizi Somaliaficionado (talk) 14:43, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No I’m not those accounts. The source for Waaqism being practiced by Cushitic peoples is cited: Ahmed, Akbar S. (2013-10-16). Islam in Tribal Societies: From the Atlas to the Indus. Routledge. pp. 127–128. ISBN 978-1-134-56527-6.
The sources for Harli and Jabarta are cited aswell in multiple sources. Maqrizi mentions all the states in the Horn of Africa and their history:
al-Dīn, Muḥammad Kamāl al-Dīn ʻIzz (1990). المقريزي مؤرخا (in Arabic). ʻĀlam al-Kutub. pp. 83–86.
There are other sources there aswell. 148.252.146.97 (talk) 14:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But does it say Waaqism was practiced in Rauso? If it doesnt than this is original research. There is no book of Al Maqrizi which mentions ximan or Jabarta nor does this book mention it Somaliaficionado (talk) 15:46, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The source says Waaqism was practiced throughout the Horn of Africa. Ibn Arabi goes as far as saying in all of Abyssinia do people call their God by Waaq. It’s mentioned in the Waaq page it was a generic name. As for Al Maqrizi, he explicitly mentions Jabarta and Wafat by name. Ifat was even known as Jabarta https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=UfrcAAAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=Islam+in+Ethiopia++Front+Cover+John+Spencer+Trimingham&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&redir_esc=y#v=snippet&q=Jabarta%20capital%20&f=false 148.252.146.97 (talk) 15:53, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but if it does not explicitly mention Rauso practicing Waaqism nor does Al Maqrizi state that Jabarta was anything more than a place name Somaliaficionado (talk) 15:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jabarta was a place you’re right. It was all of Ogaden including Zeila. 148.252.146.97 (talk) 15:57, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yeah so it wasnt a civilization nor does al MAqrizi mention it was a civilization thus it is original research Somaliaficionado (talk) 16:03, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was a civilisation. There were states with cities and a government. That’s a civilisation right there. Harli is clearly sourced as one in the article. Do not remove cited information 148.252.146.97 (talk) 16:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
if it does not explicitly say that "Harli was a civilization that suceeded Rauso" it is Original Research Somaliaficionado (talk) 16:14, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nowhere does it say anything about succession. It literally says Harla existed “concurrently” in the Nugaal valley. Do you know what the word “concurrently” means? 148.252.146.97 (talk) 16:17, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why am I tagged here? This is not my account at all Landheer Somali (talk) 13:37, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
