How much of his work is nonfiction in what sense?

Illustrator Chris Riddell won the 2001 Kate Greenaway Medal for his part in Pirate Diary. He was a Highly Commended runner-up for the 1999 Medal, for his part in Castle Diary by Platt.

Re Pirate Diary, the 2002 press release by CILIP called it the first "information book" to win its annual illustration award in 27 years and "a fictionalised account of the adventures of young Jake Carpenter on the high seas."
