The Football Association of Selangor (Malay: Persatuan Bolasepak Selangor) enters a team in Malaysian football competitions to represent the state of Selangor - can anyone tell me what hell is this? This is rubbish English. Shame on this person. Go wax up your English, then you are qualified to write here in Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Matthew Timbang (talkcontribs) 14:52, 28 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

What's the problem with that sentence? It's both factually and gramatically correct. The previous version of the opening sentence stated that "Selangor FA ... is a Malaysian football club ...". That's both factually wrong and very misleading. "Selangor FA" is the abbreviated name for the state football association of Selangor. It is not a football club, but a regional association. To imply that Selangor FA is a football team and nothing more is quite simply wrong. It's an association which engages in activities to promote football in the state of Selangor. Among these activities are organising and managing the team which competes under the association's name in the Malaysian Super League (and the fact that this is the most visible and possibly the most important of their activities is reflected in the fact that the rest of the article concentrates on this). But to imply that Selangor FA is only a team and nothing more (along the lines of, say, Johor FC, which is not a state FA team) is extremely misleading. The wording of the opening sentence noted above helps make this distinction clear. Perhaps more information could be included later in the article to futher clarify this. But this wording for the opening sentence immediately helps clarify for the reader that this is not a club team, but a state football association which organises a representative side. Fair use rationale for Image:SelangorFA.gif

[edit]

Image:SelangorFA.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Creating Selangor FA Reserves and Academy

[edit]

Hello. I was wondering if we can move the bits about U21 and U19 teams (players, honours) to Selangor FA Reserves and Academy page since this article had become too big. I can do it but I just want to know what others might think about this - Froswo (talk) 09:12, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Selangor F.C. or Selangor FC?

[edit]

I see news report such as here and here which uses Selangor FC instead of Selangor F.C. I suggest moving the page and its associate to Selangor FC the same way Barcelona uses FC Barcelona without the dots. Lulusword (talk) 05:14, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About the head coach of Selangor FC

[edit]

Recently, I have found this https://thesun.my/sport/cheng-hoe-appointed-police-tero-fc-head-coach-FH12158841 and https://www.sinarharian.com.my/article/651967/berita/sukan/selangor-tak-tolak-kemungkinan-sambar-park-hang-seo. Selangor FC is interested in having Park Hang-seo as the head coach of the club. Nidzam Jamil is temporarily head coach. If you have any information about this, please discuss here. Thanks!
